16.04.2025
As part of the exhibition "Healthcare of Belarus - 2025", the UIIP NASB presented its developments in the field of artificial intelligence and digital medical technologies. Among them is a complex for detecting diabetic retinopathy and its stages using retinal images based on deep learning and soft computing. The results obtained can be used as a separate software tool, as well as in a complex of programs for screening, determining the stage of diabetic retinopathy. This toolkit offers decision support for doctors during the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy.

Republican regional information and analytical systems for healthcare were also demonstrated. They are designed to provide information support for the functioning of the structure of medical institutions, support for decision-making at all levels of the activities of healthcare institutions, predicting disease risks and therapeutic diagnostics.

Among the developments, a neural network complex for supporting the diagnosis of lung diseases was also presented. As Vasily Kovalev, a leading researcher at the Laboratory of Biomedical Image Analysis at the Joint Institute for Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences, explained, this is an advanced solution based on artificial intelligence, developed to automate the support of pulmonary disease diagnostics using X-ray and CT images.
