UIIP NAS of Belarus at CSIST 2025

03.11.2025

Scientists from the The State Scientific Institution «The United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus» (UIIP NASB) participated in the 11th International Congress on Informatics: Information Systems and Technologies (CSIST'2025), which took place from October 29–31, 2025, at the Belarusian State University.

The forum was organized by the Belarusian State University and the UIIP NAS of Belarus. The congress brought together over 200 scientists from nine countries—Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, China, Portugal, Serbia, Turkey, and Switzerland—and became a significant international platform for exchanging experiences and discussing current trends in information technology development.

Oleg Chizh, Head of the High-Performance Systems Laboratory, and Sergey Medvedev, Head of the Technical Systems Synthesis Laboratory, presented a paper on "Distributed Supercomputer Simulation of Coupled Processes of Various Natures."

During the presentation, the scientists presented for the first time the new computing cluster UMKA , which is integrated into the Belarusian national grid network. The cluster was commissioned on October 3, 2025, and consists of 24 nodes, each equipped with an 84-core AMD EPYC 9634 processor. The system has a total of 2,016 processor cores and achieves peak performance of up to 120 teraflops (0.12 PFlops).

The introduction of the cluster UMKA marks an important milestone in the development of the Belarusian distributed supercomputer modeling system and significantly expands the computing capabilities of the national research infrastructure.
