Belarus and Russia celebrated People's Unity Day on April 2. Exactly 30 years ago, the Treaty on the Establishment of the Community of Belarus and Russia was signed, establishing a politically and economically integrated community to pool the material and intellectual potential of the two states.

To mark the occasion, the RTR-Belarus television channel aired a report on the SKIF series of supercomputers, developed as part of the Union State programs. This achievement in high-performance computing technology can rightfully be called a symbol of technological sovereignty and a historic breakthrough. The supercomputer was one of the first projects of the Union State, competing with foreign ones in global rankings.

"This includes modeling technological or engineering processes, conducting scientific research in the fields of bioinformatics, and drug analysis." "All of this is impossible without the use of modern computing technology," Oleg Petrovich Chizh, head of the Laboratory of High-Performance Systems and Modeling Technologies at the Unite Institute for Informatics and Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, told the " Aktsenty" (Accents) film crew.

Instead of dependence on Western technologies, technological sovereignty was already at the forefront. Today, this includes joint nuclear research, domestic microelectronics in demand everywhere, advanced therapeutic methods using cell technologies, from machine tool manufacturing to aviation and beyond, to a shared constellation of satellites with record-breaking resolution.
