From Law to Economics: How is Belarus Building Its AI Ecosystem?
16.07.2026
Artificial intelligence is part of modern reality. Today, it has become a focus for legislators, industrialists, and educators. However, the essence is often lost in the headlines about all-powerful neural networks: what is AI, what real risks does it pose, and where are the most promising areas of application?
We invite you to find answers to these questions with the expert of the new episode of the "Simply About Science" podcast – Sergei Kruglikov, Chief Researcher at the Department of Methodological Support for Digital Development at the Joint Institute for Institutes of Informatics and Information Technologies of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
One of the central topics of the discussion was the development of a model law "On AI Technologies" in the CIS. This document is intended to become a unified standard for Commonwealth countries, defining basic concepts, ethical norms, and the responsibilities of developers. At the same time, a national framework is being developed: Sergei Vladimirovich emphasizes that Belarus has much to be proud of in adapting its legal system to the new digital reality.
Also in the episode:
Why, according to the expert, does robotics improve the general literacy of the population?
Which economic sectors are most promising for AI implementation?
Where can one truly learn how to work with neural networks?
And why is it so important to develop our own solutions and maintain technological sovereignty?
One way or another, it's important to understand that artificial intelligence isn't an extraterrestrial intelligence capable of taking over the world; it's the high-tech product of the labor of thousands of scientists. It doesn't replace humans, but it does require even greater awareness and critical thinking. And it's precisely this culture that Belarusian scientists are working toward today.
