Security as a foundation for development was discussed at the UIIP of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

16.07.2026

The United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus held a Unified Awareness Day, the key topic of which was "Ensuring Life Safety: From Cyberattacks to Road Traffic Regulations." The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director General for Ideological Work Sergei Alekseevich Zhilyuk.

The topic of digital hygiene is receiving significant attention in the era of neural networks, yet new victims continue to fall victim to cybercrime every day. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the share of cybercrime in the overall crime structure is steadily increasing: from 21.5% in 2023, it reached 33.4% in the first five months of 2026.

The statistics on minors are particularly alarming: the number of children recognized as victims of fraud has increased by almost 70% (from 158 to 268). Fraudsters employ sophisticated schemes, from blocking personal devices under the guise of helping a friend to luring teenagers into drug trafficking via messaging apps. Furthermore, the development of artificial intelligence makes it possible to impersonate relatives' voices, making phone fraud even more dangerous. The main barrier against criminals is critical thinking.

The meeting also discussed safety measures near water, in forests, and, of course, on the roads. In conclusion, Sergei Alekseevich emphasized that common sense must be followed in all situations and under any circumstances.

In the second part of the meeting, representatives of Belarusbank JSC met with employees of the Joint Institute for Information Processing of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to discuss information security issues related to banking products.
