The UIIP of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus presented its developments at an innovation fair.

The "Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence" Innovation Fair was held in Minsk. The event was organized by the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus and the state institution "BelISA." The forum's main goal is to shorten the path from a scientific idea to a concrete product by connecting developers with the real economy. Therefore, the fair traditionally serves as a meeting point for three worlds: academic science, the IT sector, and industrial enterprises. The event's format is hybrid.

The United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus presented a new type of omnidirectional in-wheel motor at the fair. At first glance, it appears to be a chassis component, but in essence, it is a highly complex cyber-physical system. The development combines an energy-efficient valve-operated electric drive and a neural network control system. Unlike traditional chassis, which require complex mechanical transmissions for maneuvering, this wheel allows a mobile robot to move in any direction. The neural network continuously analyzes surface traction, weight distribution, and terrain, minimizing vibration.

The development can find practical application in warehouse logistics, automated manufacturing, and industrial facilities. The technology promises to reduce the energy consumption of mobile platforms by 15–20% due to the elimination of transmission losses and more precise traction control.

The second project presented by the United Institute for Informatics and Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus as part of the fair's business program was an automated bird call recognition technology. This isn't just a voice recorder in the forest, but a system linked to a specially trained neural network. Artificial intelligence filters background noise (wind, rain, crackling branches) and identifies target sounds—bird calls—then cleans the audio with filters, transmits the information as a spectrogram, and identifies, with a certain degree of probability, the bird inhabiting the Belarusian forest. The algorithms are capable of identifying songbird species, displaying an image and providing brief information in the app. The development is available to users as a mobile app, a web version, and a Telegram chatbot. The system has been trained to identify 116 species of Belarusian songbirds.
