Colleagues from Uzbekistan visited the UIIP of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus

08.09.2026
A delegation from the Research Institute of Agricultural Mechanization of the Republic of Uzbekistan paid a working visit to the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (UIIP NASB). The meeting aimed to foster bilateral scientific and technical cooperation regarding the digital transformation of the agro-industrial complex.

The discussions were chaired by Dmitry Sakharuk, Director General of UIIP NASB. Representatives from our institute also participated in the meeting:

- Sergey Kasanin, Deputy Director General for Research;

- Vladislav Sychev, Head of the Robotics Systems Laboratory;

- Alexander  Inyutin, Head of the System Identification Laboratory;

- Nadezhda Borodich, Head of the International Cooperation and Exhibition Activities Department.

Key topics of discussion included:

  • robotization of field operations: the guests were introduced to Belarusian developments in autonomous agricultural machinery and omnidirectional mobile platforms, which could be adapted to the climatic and landscape conditions of Central Asia;
  • AI in precision agriculture: exploring the potential of neural network models and computer vision tools for monitoring crop conditions, forecasting yields, and optimizing resource consumption;
  • large language models and cloud-based analytical systems for multidimensional statistical modeling and the processing of vast agricultural datasets collected from sensors and satellites.

Representatives from the Research Institute of Agricultural Mechanization highly valued the expertise of Belarusian developers in machine vision and mobile robot control. Colleagues from Uzbekistan shared their vision regarding priority automation tasks for the region.

"We certainly need to launch a joint project; we possess all the necessary expertise," noted the Director General of UIIP NASB. "We could devise a joint project that integrates the technologies developed by our respective institutes." The United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus can implement this on a digital platform, link it to your national platforms—or, if you wish, to centralized systems—and leverage solutions we already have in place.

Following the visit, an agreement was reached to sign a memorandum of cooperation and develop a roadmap for creating a joint hardware-software system for agricultural lands. The next stage will involve the participation of Uzbek colleagues in the "Artificial Intelligence in Belarus" International IT-Academgorodok Forum, scheduled for October 13–14 at the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
