Science is close at hand: UIIP experts know how to connect with young people
23.01.2026
The United Institute of Informatics Problems (UIIP) does not directly participate in school or university curricula. However, the knowledge and experience of our experts are valuable for the future of the country, especially for young people just beginning their professional careers or still searching for their niche. Therefore, our staff members are happy to participate in meetings with young people, sharing information about the institute's latest developments and fundamental and applied research in information technology.
One striking example of this work was today's meeting dedicated to Belarusian Science Day, which was held by
Olga Dydo, Head of the Intelligent Services Department, for students of the Minsk State Energy College. She explained to the students why the internet remembers everything, how to protect your personal data, and what security rules should be followed when communicating on social media.
The topic of educational applications available in Belarus, developed by UIIP specialists, was also discussed. The students learned how listening to birdsong can help ornithologists and participate in large-scale scientific research. They were also introduced to an
app that lets them travel through the cities and towns of their native Belarus, as if with an experienced tour guide. The conversation was useful and diverse, the discussion was lively, and the
applause at the end confirmed that only those who love their profession and pursue it with passion can speak about science simply and engagingly.
As the college students themselves admitted after the event, they realized that science isn't just about complex formulas and research, but also an essential part of our everyday lives.
