23.01.2026

As part of a series of events dedicated to Belarusian Science Day, fifth-year students majoring in Modern Foreign Languages at the Belarusian State University today visited the Speech Recognition and Synthesis Laboratory of the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

During the tour, the students met with the head of the laboratory, Andrei Bondolovsky, PhD in Economics. Bondolovsky provided a detailed account of the laboratory's research and development, focusing on the potential of using large-scale language models (LLM) in linguistic research. The students were also introduced to the laboratory's activities in the areas of information systems and databases, as well as the development of technologies such as artificial intelligence, navigation systems, chatbots, and speech recognition and synthesis.

This visit exemplifies the successful collaboration between our institute and a leading educational institution in the country, which contributes to the training of future specialists and the development of innovative technologies in computational linguistics and linguodidactics. Such initiatives not only broaden students' scientific horizons but also promote the introduction of modern technologies into foreign language teaching, making it more effective and interactive.
