A Chinese delegation visited the UIIP of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to discuss cooperation in the field of AI

As part of a business visit to the Republic of Belarus, a delegation from the Nanjing High-Tech Industrial Development Zone Management Committee (Jiangsu Province, People's Republic of China) visited the Unite Institute of Informatics Problems. The meeting was chaired by Andrei Govin, Deputy Director General for Research and Innovation.

The main topic of discussion was the prospect of developing bilateral cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence. The parties exchanged experiences and discussed projects and potential areas of joint work to strengthen scientific and innovation exchange between Belarus and China. Specifically, the Joint Institute for Informatics and Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus proposed developing cooperation in mutually beneficial areas such as microelectronics, optoelectronics, medical information systems, neural network technologies, the creation of a distributed infrastructure, and internships for specialists.

The following contributed to the high-level expertise of the discussions on cooperation:

  • Oleg Chizh, Head of the High-Performance Systems and Modeling Technologies Laboratory;
  • Sergey Medvedev, Chief Researcher of the High-Performance Systems and Modeling Technologies Laboratory;
  • Eduard Snezhko, Head of the Biomedical Image Analysis Laboratory;
  • Vasily Kovalev, Leading Researcher of the Biomedical Image Analysis Laboratory.
The Chinese guests expressed a strong interest in developing cooperation, indicating their willingness to serve as a bridge between Belarusian scientists and a cluster of Chinese enterprises engaged in neural networks and AI.

This visit is an important step toward developing a long-term strategic partnership in high technology and artificial intelligence, as well as strengthening scientific ties between Belarus and China. Such international communication opens new horizons for joint development and implementation of modern technologies in both countries.
