Belarus and China have agreed on a joint scientific project.

International negotiations aimed at developing scientific and practical cooperation between Belarus and China were held at the Confucius Institute of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture (BSUPC). The main topic of the meeting was the approval of a joint application for participation in the "BRFFR-NNSFC-2027" competition, organized by Belarusian and Chinese foundations to support joint research projects.

Representing the Belarusian side, the following participated in the negotiations:

  • Andrei Govin, Deputy General Director for Research and Innovation at the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus;
  • Aleksandr Zhukovsky, First Deputy Director of the Republican Scientific Subsidiary Unitary Enterprise "Institute of Plant Protection";
  • Sergey Krautsou, Head of the Aerospace Monitoring Laboratory at the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus;
  • Ilya Shershen, Specialist in the International Cooperation and Publicity Department at the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

Representatives of Lingnan Normal University (Guangdong Province) participated in the negotiations on the Chinese side via videoconference. Representatives of the Confucius Institute at BSUPC moderated the meeting.

Following the talks, the parties decided to combine their efforts on joint research projects. The focus was on the diagnosis and prediction of agricultural diseases, particularly early detection of plant diseases, particularly wheat.

The project has been tentatively titled "Intelligent System for Forecasting Winter Crop Diseases."

Andrey A. Govin emphasized the importance of joint initiatives: "You are patriots of your country, and we are patriots of ours. This project will bring real benefits, prove its worth, and become a step toward developing scientific cooperation between our countries."

The parties agreed to continue working on the project and to develop cooperation in information technology in agriculture.
