UIIP of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has joined the beekeeping cluster

30.04.2026
Today, the Joint Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences officially joined the Beekeeping Cluster of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus as the 17th member. This occurred in connection with the launch of scientific research to create a unified digital platform for beekeeping in collaboration with the Center for Scientific Beekeeping of the Institute of Fruit Growing.
"The Joint Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is the digitalization office of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus," emphasized Sergei Viktorovich Potetenko, Head of the Center for Support of Digital Development of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Head of the Department of Scientific and Methodological Support for Digital Development of the Joint Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. "Everything related to informatization, digitalization, and AI at the Academy of Sciences is our responsibility. The topic of intelligent beekeeping has been discussed for a long time, and only last year was it included in the state five-year scientific research program. It is called "Intelligent Beekeeping," and it is being implemented by two organizations: the Joint Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Institute of Fruit Growing, represented by the Center for Scientific Beekeeping."

The main goal of the project is to create and launch an experimental intelligent digital platform for beekeeping by 2030. The platform will include three service levels:

Level one – "smart hive": automated collection of hive data (temperature, humidity, sound), creation of a process map, and forecasting of colony conditions;

Level two – services for the beekeeping industry as a whole: inventory management, automation of business processes, and apiary management analytics;

Level three – interaction between the beekeeping industry and the outside world: protection of apiaries from pests, monitoring and forecasting of honey plants, and integration with the overall ecological environment.

The implementation of this ambitious project will introduce modern digital solutions to Belarusian beekeeping, improve the efficiency and quality of the industry, and take it to a new level of innovation.
