The 11th International Scientific and Practical Conference on "Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in Ensuring National Information and Political Security: Discourses, Concepts, and Practices" is taking place at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. The event, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly, brought together over two hundred leading scientists and experts from Belarus, Russia, China, and other countries.

The event featured plenary and thematic sessions, roundtables, and presentations of innovative developments. A keynote address was given by Konstantin Shulgan, Deputy Director General for Digital Development at the Unite Institute for Information Technologies and Applications of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, whose work is closely related to the conference's theme. He emphasized the importance of technological sovereignty—the state's ability to independently create and implement critical digital solutions and ensure independence in the field of information security.

The UIIP of the NAS of Belarus plays a key role in this area, serving as a research center and a practical instrument for implementing state policy in digital development and information security. Of particular note are the institute's participation in international initiatives, its adherence to the Code of Ethics in Artificial Intelligence, and its contribution to the development of a model law on artificial intelligence technologies, which has become the basis for shaping approaches to regulating AI in the CIS countries. In December 2024, the institute joined the BRICS+AI Alliance.

The UIPI also houses the IT-Akademgrad Digital Technologies Research and Technology Center, which combines the expertise of various organizations to develop applied digital solutions. It is important to note that the effective implementation of artificial intelligence requires not only scientific and engineering achievements but also the creation of a robust regulatory system. This includes identifying a state regulator for AI, developing a national strategy, and establishing comprehensive legal frameworks.

The presentation presented the NAS of Belarus's Unite Institute for Informatics and Problems of Information Processing (UIIP) developments in digital healthcare, supercomputer technologies, robotics, space systems, computer vision, and intelligent data analytics. Konstantin Konstantinovich noted that artificial intelligence is not only a technology of the future but also tools that are already working today to advance science, the economy, and Belarus's digital infrastructure.
