A ceremony honoring scientists was held today at the United Institute of Informatics Problems. A key event of the day was the awarding of Boris Lobanov, Chief Researcher of the Speech Recognition and Synthesis Laboratory. Dmitry Sakharuk, Director General, presented the scientist with the institute's anniversary medal for his significant personal contribution to the development of speech recognition and synthesis.

Boris Mefodyevich is the author of over 300 scientific papers, including 16 inventions, 57 publications in international journals, and four monographs. Under his leadership, the first Russian-language synthesizer in the USSR, "FONEMAFON," and the "MARS" automaton were created, as well as modern hardware and software systems for multilingual synthesis, voice control of aircraft instruments, and intelligent telephone systems.

Boris Mefodyevich recently celebrated his 88th birthday. This year, he is retiring from his primary career, but the institute is not saying goodbye to this master scientist: he will continue to collaborate, advise colleagues, and participate in key research projects.

Certificates of honor for their anniversaries were also awarded to:

  • Nikolai  Deev, Senior Researcher, Laboratory of Mathematical Cybernetics;
  • Alla  Nesenchuk, Lead Researcher, Laboratory of Robotic Systems.
