14.09.2026

Representatives from the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus participated in the seminar "Prospects and Directions for Cybersecurity Development in the Banking Sector." Held annually, the event has established itself as a prestigious platform for dialogue among the scientific community, government bodies, and the business sector, addressing pressing challenges regarding digital sovereignty and the protection of critical infrastructure.

Sergey Kasanin, Deputy Director General for Research, spoke at the "Digital Security and AI" session. His presentation was titled "On State Regulation of Artificial Intelligence Application in the Republic of Belarus." Amid the rapid adoption of neural network technologies across all economic sectors—from industry to finance—establishing a transparent and effective regulatory framework has become a top priority. "AI has moved beyond the hype stage to become a practical, working technology. At the recent TIBO forum, experts agreed that an ecosystem integrating science, education, and business is taking shape," Sergey Nikolaevich noted, highlighting key trends. Particular attention was paid to the work Belarusian experts have done to harmonize international standards in this field. Sergey Nikolaevich described the development process of the model law "On Artificial Intelligence Technologies," which has already been approved by the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.

Vasily Kovalev, a leading researcher at the Biomedical Image Analysis Laboratory, participated in the roundtable discussion "Artificial Intelligence Development in Belarus: AI Security." He outlined the practical work conducted by the United Institute of Informatics Problems (NAS of Belarus) regarding information security, focusing on one of the most sensitive segments of digital medicine: the protection of large datasets containing anonymized medical images.
