A press tour for media representatives from the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, and Union media outlets has kicked off in Minsk, themed "Integration of Science and the Real Production Sector: A Guarantee of Sustainable Economic Growth for the Union State." The first day of the program in the Belarusian capital was dedicated entirely to the National Academy of Sciences.
An exhibition showcasing key developments was organized for the media at the United Institute of Informatics Problems (UIIP) of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB). Dmitry Sakharuk, Director General of the UIIP NASB, gave a detailed overview of the institute's objectives and its prospects within the context of Union integration. As the head of the scientific institution emphasized, we are currently witnessing a renaissance of artificial intelligence technologies.
Today, the UIIP NASB not only develops unique solutions but also actively integrates them into the real economy. This enables the creation of products that are in demand both domestically and internationally.
Leading experts and the developers themselves presented the institute's core areas of expertise to the journalists. Particular attention was paid to fields such as artificial intelligence and intelligent systems, image processing and pattern recognition, robotics, medical informatics, speech technologies, supercomputer modeling, and space and geoinformation technologies.
During a brief conference, press tour participants were briefed on Union programs and projects that have been completed or are currently underway. For instance, Oleg Petrovich Chizh, Head of the High-Performance Systems Laboratory, shared the results of the "SKIF," "SKIF-NEDRA," and "SKIF-GRID" supercomputing programs. Sergey Korenyako, Head of the Department of Joint Space and Information Technology Programs, spoke about the "Cosmos-SG," "Cosmos-NT," and "Monitoring-SG" programs.
Alexander Tuzikov, Head of the Laboratory of Mathematical Cybernetics, briefed media representatives on the work being carried out by the United Institute of Informatics Problems (UIIP) of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus as part of the new, large-scale Union State program "Soyuz-Biomembranes."
Next, the journalists visited the UIIP subsidiary, "Geoinformation Systems" (a unitary enterprise of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus), which specializes in Earth remote sensing from space.
