Neural networks can be wrong

17.02.2026

In the modern world, artificial intelligence and neural networks are rapidly penetrating various spheres of life: they write code, automate document processing, make medical diagnoses, create advertising creatives, and aid in education. However, as technology's intellectual capabilities grow, our vulnerability also becomes increasingly apparent.

A voice can be faked in seconds, a face can be "transferred" to someone else's body, and scammers hack accounts without brute-forcing passwords, using digital copies of our identities. Modern algorithms know more about us than we do ourselves, shaping our desires and capabilities, and influencing our consciousness and behavior. But even the most advanced digital consciousness can be deceived.

High-tech challenges and ways to protect against digital risks were discussed in the new episode of the "Main Broadcast" program on the Belarus 1 TV channel. Particular attention was paid to the security of AI applications. Vasily Alekseevich Kovalev, a leading researcher at the Biomedical Imaging Laboratory at the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, served as the program's expert. He discussed the current risks of artificial intelligence and the prospects for its safe use.

The scientist emphasized that AI development brings benefits in many areas. However, it is also important to remain aware of new types of digital threats: from data falsification to identity theft.
