A new podcast explores cutting-edge developments in medical imaging diagnostics

26.02.2026

The "Simple about science" podcast series has been expanded with a new episode. This time, the conversation is dedicated to the advanced development of the UIIP NAS of Belarus in the field of early diagnosis of diseases of the respiratory system.

The podcast featured the junior researcher of the laboratory of biomedical image analysis of the UIIP NAS of Belarus Ahmedkhan Radzhabov who told about the neural network software complex used for the analysis of medical images.

The intelligent system tool is intended to support doctors when making decisions, optimizing the work of diagnostic services and improving the accuracy of detecting lung diseases. At the base of the system lies an advanced neural network model that quickly and accurately interprets digital images, identifying signs of disease and helping to differentiate diagnoses.

The technology is already included in the work of the republican scientific and practical centers, and is also used in medical establishments as part of pilot projects. The use of artificial intelligence has become the most promising solution for automating and supporting doctors.

In the future, it is planned to expand the functionality, integration with electronic medical cards, training the system to new types of images, recognizing sound files, which in turn will allow to expand the scope of application.

«Simple about science» — cycle of podcasts, created with channel «Culture» of the Belarussian radio. The podcast host is journalist and scientific popularizer Alexey Gulevich. Here we talk about the complex and important, accessible and understandable, and importantly — expertly.
