Belarus–Russia Universities Discuss Joint Research and Cooperation Roadmap

An online meeting was held between representatives of the Joint Institute for Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and representatives of the
Buryat State University named after Dorzhi Banzarov (Russian Federation).
The Buryat State University delegation included Vice-Rector for Research Viktoria Nomogoeva, Director of the Institute of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science Larisa Antonova, Director of the Scientific, Educational and Innovation Center for System Research and Automation Alexander Buldaev, Head of the Research Department Aryuna Batueva, Head of the International Relations Office Natalia Banzaraktsaeva, as well as researchers and specialists of the university.
The Joint Institute for Informatics Problems of the NAS of Belarus was represented by Deputy Director General for Research Sergey Kasanin, Deputy Director General for Scientific and Innovation Activities Andrey Govin, Head of the Intelligent Information Systems Department Alexey Belotserkovsky, Head of the Speech Recognition and Synthesis Laboratory Andrey Bondolovsky, Head of the International Cooperation and Exhibition Activities Department Nadezhda Borodich, Head of the Biomedical Image Analysis Laboratory Eduard Snezhko, Leading Researcher Vasily Kovalev, and Head of the High-Performance Systems and Modeling Technologies Laboratory Oleg Chizh.
The meeting was held in an open and business-oriented format, allowing the parties to discuss potential areas of cooperation and exchange practical proposals.
During the discussion, the participants outlined promising areas for collaboration, including joint research and projects in artificial intelligence, data analysis, mathematical modeling, biomedical technologies, image processing, and high-performance computing.
Particular attention was paid to educational cooperation, including online lectures, internships, training of highly qualified researchers, and exchange of academic experience.
The parties also discussed opportunities for participation in international research programs and grants, as well as prospects for preparing joint applications for funded projects.
The representatives of Buryat State University were invited to take part in major scientific and business events in the Republic of Belarus, including the 13th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia (June 25–26, 2026, Minsk), the V International Forum of the IT-Academgrad “Artificial Intelligence in Belarus” (October 13–14, 2026), and the XXV International Scientific and Technical Conference “Development of Informatization and the State System of Scientific and Technical Information” (RINTI-2026, November 19, 2026).
Following the
meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in developing cooperation and agreed to proceed with the practical elaboration of joint activities. The next step will be another online meeting, where a draft roadmap for cooperation outlining key initiatives and timelines is expected to be presented.
