Belarusian and Siberian Scientists Agree to Develop Cooperation in AI and Digital Technologies
01.04.2026On April 1, on the eve of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, an online meeting was held between representatives of the State Scientific Institution “United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus” and representatives of the East Siberian State University of Technology and Management (Russian Federation, Republic of Buryatia).
The Belarusian side was represented by Deputy Director General for Research Sergey Kasanin, Deputy Director General for Scientific and Innovation Activities Andrey Govin, Head of the International Cooperation and Exhibition Activities Department Nadezhda Borodich, and Head of the Biomedical Image Analysis Laboratory Eduard Snezhko.
The delegation of the East Siberian State University of Technology and Management included Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Dmitry Shalbuev, Vice-Rector for Digital Development Natalia Ayusheeva, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology Natalia Khaptakhaeva, Professor of the Department of Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Larisa Naykhanova, Head of the Department of Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Inga Evdokimova, Head of the Department of Applied Informatics, Statistics and Data Analysis Oksana Khokhlova, Head of the Department of Computing and Radioelectronic Systems Vyacheslav Kravchenko, and Head of the Department of Mathematics named after Ts.B. Shoynzhurov Evgenia Vasilyeva.
The East Siberian State University of Technology and Management is one of the leading engineering and technological universities in Eastern Siberia, focused on training specialists for industry, the digital economy, and high-tech sectors, as well as on the development of applied scientific research.
The meeting was held in a business-oriented and open format. The parties presented the key areas of activity and core competencies of their organizations and discussed opportunities for cooperation in research and education, including online lectures, internships, and the training of highly qualified personnel.
Particular attention was paid to the development of practical cooperation. The parties agreed to establish interaction at the level of research teams — scientists in specialized fields (including medicine and artificial intelligence) will continue collaboration through dedicated working meetings.
The university representatives also proposed involving the State Scientific Institution “United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus” as a co-organizer of an artificial intelligence conference within the framework of the II International Baikal Technological Forum with international participation, including the joint organization of the “Innovation IT Point” platform. The forum will serve as a venue for presenting technologies and innovative scientific developments aimed at technological advancement.
During the discussion, Deputy Director General for Research Sergey Kasanin proposed considering an expert review of an artificial intelligence glossary being developed by the State Scientific Institution “United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus”. If the project is further developed at the CIS level, the Belarusian side expressed readiness to consider involving university representatives in this joint initiative.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in developing cooperation and agreed to continue working on specific areas and formats of joint activities.
