1990 – The Belarusian Lenin Komsomol Prize was given to S. Ablamiejka, A. Krot, S. Dziemidzienka, V. Staravojtaŭ for work in the field of signal and image processing and to A. Tuzikaŭ and M. Kavalioŭ for for work in the field of scheduling theory.

1995 – The Computing Center of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus was added to the Institute of Technical Cybernetics of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

1996 – The research association "Cybernetics" was formed on the basis of the laboratories and departments of the ITC of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The association consisted of: the Institute of Technical Cybernetics of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus – the head scientific organization of the association, the scientific and engineering enterprise "Information Technologies", the scientific and engineering enterprise "Geoinformation systems", the engineering enterprise "Scientific Instrument Manufacture", the scientific and engineering enterprise "Automation Systems".

1998 – V. Tanajeŭ, Ju. Sackoŭ, V. Hardon, Ja. Šafranski, M. Kavalioŭ, V. Strusievič were awarded the State Prize of Belarus for works in the field of scheduling theory.

2002 – state scientific institution "Institute of Technical Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus", scientific research association "Cybernetics" and scientific and engineering republican unitary enterprise "Automation Systems" are reorganized by merging into the state scientific institution "United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" (UIIP NAS of Belarus).

2003 – S. Ablamiejka, V. Staravojtaŭ, A. Tuzikaŭ were awarded the State Prize of Belarus for work in the field of image processing and recognition.

2007 – state scientific institution "United Institute for Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" was reorganized in the form of joining the state scientific institution "National Center for Information Resources and Technologies of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus". The Institute had also obtained the rights and obligations of the founder of the following legal entities:

- Scientific and engineering republican unitary enterprise "Geoinformation systems";

- Scientific and engineering republican unitary enterprise "Interbranch scientific and practical center of identification systems and electronic business operations".

The research carried out at the Institute is aimed at developing methods and tools for modeling intelligent processes in design, planning, management, creating new information and telecommunication technologies, software and hardware complexes and systems. UIIP NAS of Belarus together with the BSU Research Institute of Applied Physical Problems named after A. Sieŭčanka is the parent organization for the State Program of Oriented Fundamental Research "Infotech", the Institute is also the head organization for the State Scientific and Technical Program "Information Technologies", the branch scientific and technical program of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus "Computer Technologies for the Design and Production of New Products" and the programs of the Union State "SKIF" and "Space of the Union State".

Since 2000, the Institute has obtained new significant scientific results in the field of processing and recognition of signals, images, speech, design automation, geoinformation systems, medical informatics and telematic applications, the theory of scheduling and discrete optimization, video input-output, decision-making in emergency situations , information protection:

- theoretical and algorithmic foundations for processing and recognition of graphic images, methods for comparing and evaluating the symmetry of geometric objects and digital images, methods of segmentation of color images based on the use of local properties of pixels and analysis of their color features, a local-geometric approach to processing digital images and algorithms solving applied cartographic problems. The results are embodied in software complexes for image processing and recognition used in Belarus and other countries;

- methods of stress-strain state modeling, optimization and production technology of complex welded machine-building structures have been developed. Automation systems for technical preparation of production, transferred to operation at RUE "Minsk Tractor Works" and RUE "Belarusian Autoworks", have been created on its basis;

- a methodology for creating synthesized algorithmic VHDL-VLSI models, methods for converting functional and structural descriptions of logic circuits in high-level languages, languages for describing structures and symbolic topology, methods for minimizing the area of crystals of custom VLSI at the stages of logical and topological design, methods for verifying design objects. The Custom Logic automated system for end-to-end design of domestic custom VLSIs produced by SPA “Integral” was created on its basis. Such design tools cannot be purchased abroad;

- the theory and methods for solving the problems of constructing schedules in conditions of uncertainty of numerical parameters, which allow constructing a minimum set of schedules in terms of inclusion, dominating optimal schedules for all admissible values of parameters, have been developed.

Agreements of interest in using the results of the Institute operating were signed with the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus, the State Center for Information Security under the President of the Republic of Belarus and 13 large enterprises and organizations of Belarus.

Together with research organizations and enterprises of Belarus and the Russian Federation, the Institute has developed and manufactured prototypes of the SKIF family of supercomputers. SKIF supercomputers allow solving problems that cannot be solved using computer technology existing in the country, or the time of their solution exceeds acceptable. Their use in the modeling of structurally complex products will significantly reduce the cost of prototyping and field testing and will help to increase the competitiveness of domestic technology. The supercomputers SKIF K-500 and SKIF K-1000 are included in the list of the 500 most high-performance computing systems in the world under numbers 407 and 98 respectively. The Republican supercomputer center for collective use is being created on their basis at the Institute.

The Institute has developed and implemented information systems for various purposes in more than 40 medical institutions, including the Republican Psychiatric Clinical Hospital (Minsk); 4th; 5th, 9th, 2nd city clinical hospitals of Minsk; Minsk, Homieĺ, Hrodna regional clinical hospitals, etc.

The Institute carries out intensive scientific work within the framework of bilateral agreements with universities and research centers of 12 developed countries of the world, and also implements contractual work for enterprises and organizations of the near and far abroad.

The Institute actively interacts with the leading universities of the republic: more than 20 lecture courses are read annually, practical classes are held for 18-20 courses.

The UIIP NAS of Belarus is one of the leading organizations of the Republic of Belarus that carries out scientific research and developments in the field of informatics and information technology at the level of world standards, has a serious scientific groundwork and potential for further development, research and implementation of the results in the national economy.
